The Missouri Tigers have reinstated suspended quarterback Maty Mauk after he missed four games for violating team rules. With the team’s bye week, it will give Mauk extra time to prepare for their next game on Thursday November 5th vs. Mississippi State.
While fans were howling that Mauk’s numbers suggested that he was struggling and it was time to give Drew Lock a chance at starting instead of just a series or two, I tried to warn you that the Tigers’ offensive woes were much greater than the decisions of the quarterback.
After the loss at Kentucky, fans got their wishes when Gary Pinkel announced Mauk would be suspended and Lock would make his first start. After a 24-10 win over South Carolina, it’s all gone downhill for the offense. Here’s a look at the QB numbers.
MAUK
57-110, 6 TDs, 4 INTs, 654 yards (130.8 YPG) 51.8% completion percentage.
Record as a starter 3-1
LOCK
77-152, 3 TDs, 3 INTs, 763 yards (95.3 YPG) 50.7% completion percentage.
Record as a starter 1-3
