Using first-half scoring burst and a shutdown defensive effort, Illinois State handed Missouri State a 38-2 homecoming defeat Saturday afternoon in Missouri Valley Football Conference action at Robert W. Plaster Stadium. Tre Roberson threw three first-half touchdown passes to Anthony Warrum and totaled 345 yards of offense, while the ISU defense stifled the Bears’ attack to match its largest win in history of the 36-game series.

Missouri State (1-5, 0-3) returns to the road next weekend with an MVFC contest against South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. Kickoff from the DakotaDome is slated for 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 24).

SEMOSoutheast Missouri (2-5, 1-2) had just 191 total yards and only 52 in the second half during a 27-10 loss to #14 Eastern Kentucky (4-2, 3-0) Saturday in front of a Homecoming crowd of 7,589 at Houck Stadium. Southeast was tied with EKU, 10-10, at halftime.

EKU scored 17 unanswered points in the game’s final two quarters, becoming the second team to shutout the Redhawks in the second half this season.

The Redhawks will be back in action when they host Tennessee Tech on Oct. 31.
