Michael Wacha was set to face Charlie Morton on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh, but weather pushed the game back today to a doubleheader. Now the Redbirds will have two chances today to clinch their third straight Central Division. They’ll play at 12:35 and 6:05 CT. This actually works better for the Pirates.
With the two games today, that allows their young ace Gerrit Cole to go head to head with Wacha. Morton then will pitch against the less dangerous Tyler Lyons, so it evens up the pitching a bit for the Pirates. However, its tough to sweep doubleheaders and I like the Cardinals depth which should give them a big advantage today.
Other Cardinals news: Adam Wainwright will be activated and he’ll be available. He has some limits this week.
