Gary Pinkel’s public comments on the Mauk suspension and on how he thinks Lock will handle the #Mizzou offense (AUDIO)

Gary Pinkel’s first public comments on the suspension of Maty Mauk and on Drew Lock’s first start

Missouri football head coach Gary Pinkel said he is more concerned about the people around Drew Lock (meaning the running backs, offensive line and wide receivers), than of what he expects from the freshman quarterback.  Pinkel says he will not manipulate the playbook or scale it back just because Lock will be making his first college start.  They’ll run the same plays with Lock that they have with Maty Mauk.

Pinkel says its always tough to suspend leaders, but he will not veer from his principles when it comes to team rules.  Pinkel would offer nothing more only to say that on Sunday, the coaching staff will re-evaluate Mauk’s status with the team.

We’ve edited Pinkel’s comments from today’s SEC Media Teleconference so you can get the highlights of his comments on the suspension and his thoughts on Lock.
