Magic numbers for the Cardinals and Royals as of 9/13/15

September 12, 2015 By Bill Pollock

The magic number stays put and the lead in the division over Pittsburgh is down to 2.5 games after the Cardinals lost the suspended game from Friday night 4-2 and the scheduled game on Saturday 5-1.  The Pirates followed that up with a 10-2 blowout win over the Brewers

We can lop off two more for the Royals.  They bounced with a 14-8 win of their own over Baltimore and the White Sox turned the tables on the Twins for a 7-2 win.

The magic number is determined by taking 163 and subtracting the number of wins for the Cardinals (or Royals) and subtracting the number of losses for the Pirates (and Twins) respectively.
