Following a 2014 season that ended in Game 7 of the World Series, Kansas City Royals fans have come in full force to support their team through what looks to be a Central Division title and hopefully another strong push to the World Series in 2015.
On Wednesday night, the Royals franchise broke the attendance record set in 1989 when the Tucker family from Blue Springs, Mo. walked through Gate E shortly after 6 p.m. After Tony, with his wife Heather and children Logan and Paige, passed through, they were immediately greeted by Sluggerr, the K-Crew, cameras and flying confetti. They were presented with a certificate and an upgrade to the front row for being fan 2,477,701.
The announced crowd of 32,286 pushed the season total to 2,506,913.
In addition to the seat upgrade, they also received a signed jersey from the players with the number 15 and the record breaking number on the back.
“I knew the record was going to be broken tonight and I heard they might do something special for that person who broke it,” Tony told KCRoyals.com. “But I never expected this. This is great.”
