The Missouri defense shutdown SEMO’s offense in the third quarter

The Tiger offense came out and attacked SEMO, starting at their own 19, Mauk hit Sean Culkin for 12 yards and J’Mon Moore on a 25 yard gain.  Ish Witter and Tyler Hunt combined for 38 yards rushing.  Mizzou had 30 yards rushing in the first half, 23 of those coming from Hansbrough.

Nate Brown dropped a sure six in the endzone and after Mauk scrambled out of trouble on third down, hit Culkin wide open, but Culkin ran out of the back of the endzone and came back into the play.  Baggett kicked a 23 yard field to push the advantage back to 20-3.

Late in the quarter, faced with a 4th and 5 near midfield, SEMO QB Tay Bender attempted a quick punt out of the shotgun.  The punt was blocked by Kentrell Brothers and the ball went straight left into the arms of Aarion Penton who returned it 41 yards for a Mizzou touchdown.

2009 was the last time a punt was blocked for a Tiger touchdown.  Malcolm Williams recovered a blocked punt in the endzone against Texas.

Brothers tied a career high with 14 tackles with a full quarter left to play.
