Lorenzo Cain hit a three-run homer, Paulo Orlando went deep with a two-run shot, DH Kendrys Morales drove in four and Ben Zobrist had two RBIs as the Royals handed Detroit pitching another beat down in a 15-7 win to wrap up the three games series with two victories.
Six of the Tigers’ seven runs came against Edinson Volquez, who only made it through three innings. Chris Young (10-6) got the win pitching two scoreless innings of relief. Volquez allowed eight hits and a walk.
The Royals pounded out 27 runs and 34 hits in the last two games. Morales is third in all of baseball with 98 RBIs and is the only player in the top seven for runs driven in to have hit less than 27 homers. Morales has hit just 17. His 36 doubles are good for fifth best in the majors.
