For the first time in nearly two years and two Tommy John surgeries later, Kris Medlen took the mound as a starter.  Down 3-1 after six innings of work, his teammates rallied to give him the win in an 8-3 final Monday night at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals scored a seven-run sixth inning sparked by Mike Moustakas hit a tying, two-run homer, Omar Infante following soon after with a two-run triple and then scoring on a bad throw to third base, and Lorenzo Cain driving in two more, off starter Ubaldo Jimenez.

Medlen, making a start for the first time since September 27th, 2013 for Atlanta, allowed five hits and striking out six without a walk as he replaced Jeremy Guthrie in the rotation.  He gave up a two-run homer to Adam Jones in the first and an RBI double to Steve Clevenger in the fourth.
