Washington drops everything to drive down the road and tryout with the Chiefs (AUDIO)

L’Damian Washington is excited to be joining former Tigers Chase Daniel, Jeremy Maclin, and Mitch Morse.

Former Mizzou wide receiver L’Damian Washington was coming out of church on Sunday in Columbia, ready to go to dinner when a member of the Chiefs’ scouting department gave him a call.

With injuries to two receivers including Chris Conley, the team still has ten other receivers and asked Washington if he was healthy enough to come into camp.

Washington is not only healthy enough, but he was scheduled to go to Tampa Bay for a workout and skipped out for St. Joe in hopes of landing an NFL job closer to home.

The fact L’Damian is already running drills and catching passes is amazing considering his tore his calf muscle in half and away from the bone that required two surgeries this spring.

“I’ve been grinding, working my butt off,” says Washington, who left Pittsburgh and went to Peak Performance in Columbia to continue his rehabbing.

The road ahead is going to be tough for Washington to catch on with the Chiefs.

There appear to be five receiver spots locked with De’Anthony Thomas, Jeremy Maclin, Albert Wilson, Chris Conley, and Jason Avant, meaning Washington will battle with five others for one more spot.
