Lorenzo Cain signals to the dugout after his run-scoring triple.

Joe Blanton allowed only one run in five innings as the Royals used three big innings to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 to maintain their 3.5 game lead in the division over Minnesota.   Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain and Kendrys Morales each had two hits, including triples from Escy and Cain as six different Royals drove in runs against Brewers starter Mike Fiers.  He gave up six earned runs in five innings.  In the first three games of this series, the Royals have outscored the Brewers 25-9.

Cain has been on a tear against his former team.  He homered in the first two games in Milwaukee, and tripled, doubled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored a run, all while extending his hitting streak to eight games. Cain’s triple in a three-run fifth scored Kendrys Morales.

As for Blanton, he allowed one run and no walks in five innings after pitching seven games in relief this season. The 10-year veteran took time away from the game and missed all of last season.

“I don’t know exactly how long, but it’s been awhile,” Blanton said. “At one point, it feels like a long way back. You think you have I lost it. You just don’t know. I fixed some mechanical things and fortunate enough to be back.”

His last win came on July 4, 2013 when he was a member of the Angels and beat the Cardinals in a 6-5 game. That year, he went 2-14.
