The Cardinals had to fight through a couple of rain delays and the distractions surrounding the news of an F.B.I. investigation of the front office.  The club got back to business on the field and beat the Twins 3-2.  The clubs now fly up to Minneapolis for the next two games of the series.

The Twins got a first inning run off Michael Wacha. After allowing a run-scoring double, Wacha retired 12 in a row.

In the bottom of the second Yadier Molina doubled off former Mizzou pitcher Kyle Gibson and scored on a Randal Grichuk sac fly. Kolten Wong and Matt Carpenter scored on a Mark Reynolds double in the third for a 3-1 lead.

Rain came with one out in the top of the seventh and one runner on, and Seth Maness took over for Wacha when play resumed.  Maness gave up a run scoring single to Kurt Suzuki.

Kevin Seigrist pitched the ninth again for Trevor Rosenthal who wasn’t available he stranded a one-out double for his third save of the season.
