The Cardinals battled back after a tough start from Dodgers’ ace Zack Greinke, getting to the bullpen with three runs in the eighth inning to pull out a 4-2 win and take three out four in Los Angeles.  Jhonny Peralta’s RBI single proved to be the game winner as the Cards improve to 38-19.

Grienke went 6.2 innings, allowing one run with eight strikeouts. That run was a solo home run from Peralta in the sixth inning, snapping a string of 225 homerless at-bats by the Cardinals.

Down 2-1 in the eighth, the Cardinals got the bats going.  Adam Liberatore walked Matt Carpenter to start the inning before being replaced by Juan Nicasio.  Matt Holliday tripled past Yasiel Puig and then scored on Peralta’s single, giving him a club high 34 RBIs.  Mark Reynolds doubled to left center scoring Peralta.

Kevin Siegrist (3-0) pitched one inning for the victory, striking out the side in the seventh on 17 pitches. Trevor Rosenthal, the sixth Cardinals pitcher of the night, picked up his 19th save in 20 attempts.
