Much like the semifinal games in Class 1 on Tuesday, the Class 2 semifinals were blowouts as well.  Top ranked Valle Catholic defeated West Platte 11-1 in six innings and New Bloomfield needed just five to get past Norwood 15-2.

Not only did Dan Bergtholdt pitch Valle Catholic to the win, allowing just one hit and one unearned run, he also drove in three to help his cause.  Three different Warrior batters finished with three hits as Valle ended the night with 13 hits.

Valle Catholic will be going for back-to-back state titles, but will face a tough opponent in New Bloomfield.

The Wildcats are looking for their state record eighth title in Class 2 and punched their ticket to the final in stunning fashion.

Trailing 1-0 in the third, New Bloomfield scored six in the third, five in the four and four in the fifth.  The 3-6 hitters of Tucker Lane, Tyler Fennewald, Derek Shikles and Brady Wiler went a combined 8 of 15 at the plate with 11 runs driven in.

The championship game will start at 1:30. The third place game at 10:30.
