The Cardinals took two out of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers after Jhonny Peralta’s two-run shot in the first inning and his RBI single in the eighth backed a solid start from Carlos Martinez in a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

Peralta finished the day 2-for-3 with all three runs driven in, while Martinez struck out eight and allowed just one hit over seven innings.

The Dodgers scored a run in eighth off Kevin Siegrist and Trevor Rosenthal picked up his 15th save.

Matt Holliday was out of the lineup for the second time in three days.
