At the Boys state tennis team finals, MICDS won for the third year in a row, beating John Burroughs 5-0. Rockhurst won their 18th state title beating out Rock Bridge 5-3. Those two schools have combined to win the last nine state championships with Rockhurst winning five of those, including the last three.

Rockhurst won in 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014 and now 2015. Rock Bridge won in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Rockhurst has 18 state titles and 26, Top-4 finishes. Rock Bridge has four state titles and 16, Top-4 finishes.

Rockhurst finishes the year 13-1 and lost just one game to Parkwest West in the state bracket after claiming their district title.  The Bruins were just as dominate, only losing two games in the entire bracket, prior to finals.

For MICDS, who finished the year 18-2, they have lost only two games during their three-year run in bracket play.  John Burroughs’ only obstacle in the last three years has been MICDS.  Burroughs lost in the finals in two of those years. Last year they fell to MICDS in the semifinals.

MICDS returns to the title after last winning the championships in 2008.  After that season, they finished runner up to Pembroke Hill in 2009 and 2010.

The singles and doubles tournaments are this weekend in Springfield.
