SLU BaseballSaint Louis baseball (35-20) fell to the VCU Rams 14-3 in their first game of the Atlantic 10 Championship. Clay Smith (8-4) had the loss.

VCU opened the scoring in the first with a three-run opening frame.

Saint Louis scored in the bottom of the second with a sacrifice fly from Jake Henson.

The Rams then jumped out with a seven-run third inning.

VCU later scored a pair of runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to draw the score to 14-1 at the seventh inning stretch.

In the bottom of the eighth, Mike Vigliarolo reached on an infield single to extend his on-base streak to 43 games. He later came around to score on a ground out. An RBI single from James Morisano brought the score to 14-3.

The three freshmen to hit in today’s contest (Alex King, Morisano and Parker Sniatynski) went a combined 5-7 with Morisano collecting an RBI. Colton Frabasilio went 1-3 with two runs scored.

The Billikens will play fourth-seeded Davidson in the consolation bracket tomorrow, May 22 at 12:30 p.m. (CT).
