The Royals beat the Reds 3-0 thanks in large part to Mike Moustakas who is on a tear. He went 3 for 4 with two doubles, and drove in two runs. He has 15 RBIs now. He’s hitting .385 in his last ten games. Omar Infante drove in his 17th run to get Yordano Ventura back to 3-3. He pitched seven innings, just four hits, six strikeouts.
Moustakas raised his average to .331.
“He’s just having tremendous at-bats,” Yost said. “We talk about pitchers staying in their mechanics and he really is staying in his mechanics.”
Case in point. On Moose’s second double (watch here) the Reds set up down and outside after Moustakas tried to pull the first pitch from Johnny Cueto that was on the outer half of the plate. Moose made his adjustment, went down with the pitch and drove it to left center.
