The safety of high school football players has always been a concern, but now there seems to be a concerted effort towards not only recognizing signs a player may be displaying, but now getting all teams and all coaches on the same page. USA Football has modified the terms for the varying levels of contact as one way to get everyone thinking the same way.

Jason West, Communications Director for MSHSAA, talks to us about the new terms, what they mean and how they will affect high school football teams across the state.  Jason explains the levels of contact:

1. Air
2. Bags
3. Control
4. Thud
5. Live

There are 31 schools who will be participating in a contact study that will last all season.  West explains in this week’s Google Hangout.
