Sporting KCThe Los Angeles Galaxy left it late at the StubHub Center on Saturday as Omar Gonzalez struck at the death to give the club a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City.

The Galaxy grabbed the lead after only nine minutes as Stefan Ishizaki’s left- footed shot was parried by Luis Marin but only as far as Baggio Husidic, who was arriving to tuck home the rebound.

Krisztian Nemeth, however, leveled the score in the 22nd minute following a well-worked move, getting on the end of Benny Feilhaber’s threaded pass and chipping a shot over the on-rushing Jaime Penedo.

It looked as if the two sides would split the points, but Gonzalez struck deep into second-half stoppage time to lift the Galaxy to 11 points with a second consecutive win.

Sporting drops its first match since its defeat to FC Dallas on March 14 to remain on nine points.
