Never a time to panic only six games into the regular season, but the Milwaukee Brewers are struggling at the plate and their starting pitching has been suspect in their first two series at Miller Park.  The Brewers were swept by the Colorado Rockies and then lost two out of three against the Pirates, including a 10-2 loss yesterday.

Bill Scott of Wisconsin Radio Network tells us part of the problem is that Milwaukee doesn’t have a true number one starter.  Kyle Lohse is off to an 0-2 start and rookie Jimmy Nelson is the only starter who has a win so far.  The other three starters will face the Cards this week, starting with Matt Garza against Adam Wainwright. None of them have had much success.

Outside of Garza, the other two starters have had good success recently against the Redbirds.  Wily Peralta was 3-1 with a 2.18 ERA in five starts against the Cardinals last year.  He’ll face Lance Lynn on Wednesday.  Mike Fiers, who will start Thursday afternoon,  is 2-1 with a 1.30 ERA in six games, four starts, during his career against St. Louis.

Bill Scott also breaks down the struggling Brewers offense with All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy hitting just .050 in the first six games.
