During MSHSAA’s board of director’s meetings this weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks, two sites were selected to host the soccer championships beginning in the Fall of 2015.  The St. Louis area was awarded the Boys Soccer Championship for a five year deal and Kansas City was awarded the Girls Soccer Championships for five years as well.

Starting with the fall of 2015, the boy’s championships will be held at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo., formerly known as the Anheuser-Busch Center St. Louis Soccer Club.  The championships will be covered over two weeks, with Class 1 and 2 championship held the same weekend as cross country and swimming and diving and then the following weekend the Class 3 and 4 championships.

The girl’s championships will be played at Swope Park, the training facility for Sporting KC as well as the site of the Big 12 soccer championships.  The championships will be held over a period of four days with Classes 1 and 2 playing on Wednesday and Thursday and Classes 3 and 4 on Friday and Saturday.

Jason West, Communications Director for MSHSAA, visits with us to talk about the decision making process and why these two venues make the most sense.
