Edinson Volquez, after having a shaky spring training, made his Royals debut, and pitched eight strong innings as the Royals sweep the White Sox with a 4-1 win.

Volquez gave up one run, walked one and struck out five in eight innings. He threw 95 pitches, 58 for strikes.

Lorenzo Cain was his usual spectacular self in the outfield robbing Adam LaRoche at the wall.  Greg Holland capped off the sweep with his second save of the season.

Cain also helped the Royals solve their nemesis John Danks.  He entered Thursday’s game 7-0 lifetime against the Royals, but Cain’s leadoff double in the sixth sparked a three-run rally capped off by Perez’s two-run homer.

Manager Ned Yost said it best.

“If someone were to say we’re hitting on all cylinders, I’d have to agree.”
