Adam Wainwright shared good news with Cardinals’ fans over Twitter.  After visiting with a St. Louis-area doctor, he learned that all he is dealing with is an abdominal strain that will only limit him a few days and won’t set him back in getting ready for the season opener on April 5.

General manager John Mozeliak called the diagnosis “good news.” Wainwright can still throw while the abdominal area heals, but the club wants Wainwright to take it easy a few days.

The Cardinals already wanted to limit the number of innings Wainwright pitched this spring after carrying a heavy load during the season and post season over the last couple of seasons.  The goal was to get Wainwright no more than four starts in Florida.  Mozeliak said that could be dropped down to three if needed.
