Terry Beckner Jr., one of the top national recruits overall and the No. 3 defensive tackle in the nation, chose nearby Mizzou.  The East St. Louis product picked the Tigers over Auburn, Florida State and Ohio State.

An emotional Beckner Jr. made his announcement on ESPNU and shuffled through pennants laid out on the table, picking up Auburn’s and setting it to the side before holding up the black and gold of Mizzou.

“I just followed where my heart told me to go”

Beckner is a 6’4, 293-pound pass rusher with a reported 40-yard dash time of 4.89 seconds. During his senior season at East St. Louis High School in St. Louis, Ill., Beckner racked up 116 tackles, three sacks and an interception that he returned for a touchdown.

He took official visits to each of his final four schools: Missouri, Ohio State, Auburn and Florida State, and also received interest from LSU.  Beckner was in Columbia this weekend.

We’ll hear more from Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel when he talks about the 2015 recruiting class this afternoon from Faurot Field.  Follow updates on Twitter @Missourisports
