Central Missouri head football coach Jim Svoboda has hired John McMenamin as the team’s new offensive coordinator. McMenamin comes to UCM after spending the previous four seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Wayne State (Neb.).  McMenamin played quarterback for Svoboda at Northwest Missouri State where he set 27 school records for the Bearcats from 1998-2002. He was an All-American in 2002 and was a member of the Bearcats’ 1998 and ’99 NCAA Division II national championship teams.

As an offensive coordinator at the D-II level with Wayne State, McMenamin’s 2014 offense ranked in the top 25 in NCAA-II in seven different offensive categories and had five All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference players. Quarterback Zach Osborn was second in the league in passing yards and led the conference in total offense. He coached 16 All-NSIC players during his time at Wayne State.

Prior to arriving at Wayne State, McMenamin served as offensive coordinator at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, from 2009-2010 where he helped turn around a Warrior program that went 8-3 in 2010 while finishing No. 22 nationally in NAIA. It was the school’s most successful football season in the last 16 years.

“I couldn’t be more enthused to have John join our staff,” Svoboda said. “He brings a wealth of experience and is highly regarded as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In addition, John is an outstanding recruiter and has coached and played in the MIAA. He is a great fit for our football program and the entire UCM family.”

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to join the staff at Central Missouri,” McMenamin said. “The opportunity to come work for Coach Svoboda was too good to pass up. He’s someone that I’ve always held in high regard. UCM has an outstanding commitment to athletics and has experienced success at all levels and I’m really excited to be a part of that.”
