The St. Louis Cardinals signed infielder Mark Reynolds to a one-year contract on Thursday.

Reynolds hit just .196 in 130 games last season for the Milwaukee Brewers and hasn’t gone above .225 since 2009. However, he did hit 22 home runs and has averaged 30 home runs per 150 games for his career.

He’s also led the league in strikeouts four times.

While the 31-year-old Reynolds has spent the majority of his career at third base, he can also play first base and has seen time at both outfield corner positions.

Over eight seasons in the majors, Reynolds owns a career .229 average with 224 homers, 613 RBI and 1,398 strikeouts in 1,118 games with Arizona, Baltimore, Cleveland, the New York Yankees and Brewers.
