Marcus Gilchrist intercepted Shaun Hill at the goal line with 56 seconds left to preserve the San Diego Chargers’ 27-24 victory against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

Hill was looking for Kenny Britt on second-and-goal from the 4. The Rams got back in the game with 7-yard TD pass from Hill to Stedman Bailey with 2:04 left that pulled the Rams within three points.

The Rams were up 10-3, on a Janoris Jenkins 99 yard pick six.  The Chargers scored 17 straight points including Ryan Mathews’ 32-yard touchdown run and former Missouri linebacker Andrew Gachkar scoring on a 13-yard fumble recovery just 21 seconds later.

Philip Rivers  threw a 29-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to Keenan Allen extend San Diego’s lead to ten.
