Victor Tarasenko rips a shot past Corey Schneider for the game’s only goal.

Victor Tarasenko scored his eight goal of the season, breaking a scoreless tie, to send the Blues to sixth straight win with a 1-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night.  Jake Allen made 26 saves for his second straight shutout.

Tarasenko’s goal came just 17 seconds after Marek Zidlicky was whistled for holding Alexander Steen in the Devils zone. Tarasenko took a pass from Jori Lehtera just outside the right circle.  He held the puck for a moment, then skated in and beat Cory Schneider on the short side, who was out of position and left a good chunk of that side open.

Tarasenko is on a tear.  The 22-year-old Russian has seven goals and nine points in his past five games.  He has scored seven of the Blues’ last 12 goals.

Allen recorded his second straight shutout and came up big in the first period as his teammates were finding their legs on the second night of back-to-back games.  The Devils has a great  chance just 3:46  in when Michael Ryder took a pass from Patrik Elias in the slot and sent a shot toward the right corner that was windmilled by Allen’s glove. The deflected puck landed on top of the cage.
