San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner did everything a manager could ask for in a crucial Game 5 of the World Series.  For the second time this series, the lefty shut down the Royals in a 5-0 final.

Bumgarner allowed just four hits, no walks and struck out eight while throwing 117 pitches, with 84 of them for strikes.  With the Giants win, the Royals will fly back to Kansas City tonight needing to win both games at home.  Game 6 is Tuesday night.

Hunter Pence, hitting .474 this series, singled to start the second off James Shields.  After an infield single and fly out to center, Pence moved up to third and scored on Brandon Crawford’s ground out for a 1-0 Giants lead.  Crawford made it 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth on a single to score Pablo Sandoval who led off the inning with a single.

Sandoval and Pence singled off Kelvin Herrera in the eighth inning.  Ned Yost called on Wade Davis, but after a strikeout by Brandon Belt, Juan Perez ripped a double over the head of Lorenzo Cain that hit just below the top of the wall scoring two.  Perez advanced to third on a throwing error home and scored on Crawford’s single.

The Giants scored runs in three innings.  The only three innings in which they led off with a single. They know how to produce runs and put pressure on the other team’s defense and pitchers.

The Giants are hitting 10 for 30 in the last two wins when they have runners in scoring position.
