The St. Louis Cardinals had one hit through the first six innings, then two batters reached on balls up the middle that deflected off middle infielder’s gloves.
With two on and no outs, Clayton Kershaw hung a curve ball to Matt Adams who hit the go-ahead, three-run homer, leading the Cards to a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, punching their ticket to a fourth straight trip to the NL Championship Series.
Rookie reliever Marco Gonzales earned his second victory of the series, taking over for Shelby Miller who allowed two runs in six innings of work in his first ever postseason start.
Trevor Rosenthal allowed two runners in the ninth before getting a force out at second for his third save of the series.
Kershaw is 0-3 with a 9.72 ERA in his last three postseason appearances, all against the Cardinals.
