Missouri men’s basketball coach Kim Anderson re-instated freshman D’Angelo Allen and Jakeenan Gant.  Both players were arrested a month ago on suspicion of third-degree assault.  Neither player was charged with a crime related to the fight that took place between three men in Columbia.

The Tigers start basketball practice on Monday and Anderson is hoping to put the off court issues behind this time.  Three players have been out and missed time with illness, Gant and Allen were obviously out and Jonathan Williams III missed a couple of weeks of practice with a knee injury.  Shane Rector left the team in May, and Torren Jones was cut in August.  Then there was the latest episode, 2012 Mr Show Me Basketball, Cameron Biedscheid being dismissed from the team.

At first, the athletic department released a statement on Tuesday saying Biedscheid had left the team for “personal reasons.”  During Wednesday’s press conference, Anderson didn’t share the details of the release, but was blunt about what is expected at Missouri.

“Here’s the deal, we have certain expectations for our student-athletes and so when those expectations aren’t met, then there are consequences,” Anderson said.  “We’re dealing with young men and young men make mistakes.”

Biedscheid transferred from Notre Dame last season and was to be eligible for Mizzou at the end of the 2014 fall semester, though Missouri had filed a waiver in hopes of Biesdscheid being ruled eligible at the beginning of the season.

In his freshman season at Notre Dame, Biedscheid played in 34 games, averaging 6.2 points and 1.4 rebounds. He scored a season-high 18 points in a 65-60 win over Villanova, shooting 5-of-7 from three point range and earning Big East Rookie of the Week honors. He had redshirted his second year prior to his transfer.
