#1 Northwest Missouri did not allow Missouri Southern a completed pass as they picked up a win on the road. NWMSU picked off two passes and held MSSU to just 177 total yards rushing in a 40-14 victory over the Lions on Thursday night in Joplin.

For the Bearcats, Phil Jackson carried the ball 15 times for 86 yards scoring two touchdowns. Brady Bolles was 19 of 28 for 212 yards and two touchdowns through the air and rushed for 34 yards and two scores. On defense Eric Reimer led the way with ten tackles including two for a loss and Kevin Berg and DJ Gnader each picked off a pass.

For the Lions Giresse Forchu carried the ball 10 times for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Michael Nelson ran the ball 14 times finishing with 65 yards on the evening. On the defensive side of the ball Jahnquavious McBride and Dalvin Taylor each finished with 10 tackles.

– Northwest racked up 383 yards of total offense, 212 yards in the air and 171 on the ground.
– The rushing game accounded for four touchdowns.
– Defensively, Northwest allowed just 177 yards of rushing to last year’s MIAA team rushing leader.
