Running back Jamaal Charles carried just seven times for 19 yards and had four catches for 15 yards.  The Tennessee Titans picked on Alex Smith, who was without his top target Dwayne Bowe, picking off three Smith passes in a 26-10 final at Arrowhead Stadium.

Smith, who signed a four-year, $68 million extension last weekend, was just 19 of 35 for 202 yards.  Meanwhile Tennessee’s Jake Locker threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns against  a depleted Chiefs defense that lost both Pro Bowl linebacker Derrick Johnson and starting defensive tackle Mike DeVito to Achilles injuries.

Johnson was 19 tackles away from setting the franchise mark in tackles.

The Chiefs were on the wrong end of their special teams decision when they cut Ryan Succop last Saturday.   He was perfect on four field-goal attempts after Tennessee picked him up this week.  After rookie Cairo Santos banked one in off the upright to give the Chiefs a 3-0 lead, he missed a 47-yarder, helping spark a 23-0 run by the Titans.
