The high school football season kicks off in Missouri this Friday and Jefferson City hosts McCluer North, a school in the Ferguson/Florissant district.  Jefferson City Activities Director Mark Caballero says that after consultation with his counterpart at McCluer, Bruce Smith, the game will go as scheduled at 7 p.m.

All high school teams must get in 14 practices prior to their first athletic competition.  Despite the fact that the start of school was pushed back until next week, the McCluer North football team has been practicing and according to Caballero, Smith gave him every assurance that he will have the backing of the school district to travel for the game.

Security meetings have taken place between Jefferson City High School officials and local law enforcement, but Caballero does not anticipate any issues at the game.

McCluer North is located in Florissant, north of I-270.  Ferguson is located south of I-270.  McCluer High School hosts Miller Career Academy on Friday and McCluer South hosts Cleveland NJROTC on Saturday.  Calls to those school’s officials as well as MSHSAA on the status of those games, have not yet been returned.
