Governor Jay Nixon (D) is expected to announce he will remove St. Louis County law enforcement from the investigation of the shooting death of a teenager by a Ferguson police officer.
Sources including Congressman William Lacy Clay, who spoke to the Kansas City Star, and Senator Claire McCaskill, are saying that Nixon will announce that action, and could ask the FBI to take the lead in the investigation. Currently both agencies are conducting separate but “parallel” investigations.
Clay and some other elected officials have said that justice will only be served by having local authorities removed from the case.
