Defensive players look on through drills on the first day of fall camp.

Mizzou football is back.  The 2014 season kicked off at Memorial Stadium on Monday afternoon as the players started the first of 13 straight days of practice.  The first two days require the players to wear just helmets, before the NCAA allows them to put on pads for full contact.

As always, the big news on the first day of camp is the players’ vote on team captains. The four Tigers chosen are seniors DE Markus Golden, OL Mitch Morse, WR Bud Sasser and SS Braylon Webb.

“The senior leadership is very important here,” said Pinkel. “One of the first things we do when we start fall camp is vote for captains and I think the team made some outstanding choices.”

The team comes into camp really healthy, only two wearing red pullover jerseys which means no contact at all. One was Webb, the other offensive lineman Connor McGovern.  Watch as Gary Pinkel talks more about the minor injuries and team captains.
