Missouri State’s first opponent and the pairings for the 2014 GCI Great Alaska Shootout, hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage, have been released. The Shootout is scheduled for Nov. 26-29 at UAA’s brand-new, 5,000-seat Alaska Airlines Center, with seven games slated for national television on CBS Sports Network.
The Bears begin play in the 37th annual Shootout at 1 a.m. Central on Nov. 27 against Colorado State, with Pacific and the host Seawolves on their side of the bracket. Rice, Mercer, Washington State and UC Santa Barbara make up the other half of the tournament field, with semifinal games in the winner’s and consolation brackets set for Nov. 28 and the concluding four games on Nov. 29.
CBS Sports Network will air live all four first-round games of the longest-running regular-season college basketball tournament in the nation, with tape delay broadcasts of the semifinal contests before a live telecast of the championship game at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29.
The Bears and Coach Paul Lusk will return four starters and seven lettermen from a team that tied for fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference and earned a berth in the 2014 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
Missouri State is expected to finalize the remainder of its non-conference schedule in the coming weeks.
