Cardinals head into the All-Star break one game behind Milwaukee after failing to sweep on Sunday

The Milwaukee Brewers ended their seven game losing streak and head into the All-Star break with a one-game lead over the Cardinals after they roughed up St. Louis pitching for 19 hits in an 11-2 final.

Milwaukee was without their shortstop Jean Segura, who was on bereavement leave after the death of his 9-month-old son.  Elian Herrera, Segura’s replacement, had a career-best five hits to lead their season high with 19 hits to back a strong start by Wily Peralta.

For the Cardinals, Carlos Martinez (2-4) allowed four runs in four innings. He also gave up three walks, a balk and hit a batter.  He gave up four runs in four innings. The Brewers also victimized Seth Maness, who gave up four runs in 1.1 innings.
