Omar Infante’s single in the bottom of the ninth capped off a late victory for the Royals on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Los Angeles Angels 5-4.  Infante got the opportunity after the Angels missed out on a potential inning ending double.  The Royals finished their nine-game homestand with just three victories, but now build some momentum as they head to Minnesota.

Alex Gordon was hit by a pitch with one out. Salvador Perez hit a grounder to shortstop Erick Aybar, but his throw glanced off second baseman Howie Kendrick’s glove and allowed Gordon to third. That break opened the door for Infante, who came through with his game winning hit.  Infante, who hit a grand slam on Friday night to help beat the Angels, finished with three hits, including a double. His winning single came against newcomer Jason Grilli (0-3). Pittsburgh traded its former closer to the Angels on Friday.

Lorenzo Cain hit three doubles for the Royals, finishing with four hits and two RBIs.  Cain’s two-run double highlighted a four-run fourth off C.J. Wilson.
