Matt Adams had a two-run single in the third, a solo shot in the fifth and a three-run homer in the seventh, while driving in a career high six runs to back a solid pitching performance from Lance Lynn as the Cardinals opened their series in Colorado with an 8-0 win over the Rockies.

Lynn allowed three hits in eight innings and struck out seven and walked none before being taken out for the ninth after throwing 108 pitches. It’s the first time the Rockies have been shutout at home since July 2 last year.

While most pitchers struggle in the hitter friendly Coors Field, Lynn thrives inside the park.  He hasn’t allowed a homer against the 77 batters he has faced in three career starts.

Matt Holliday added an RBI double against his former team.
