The Royals win streak ends at 10, losing Thursday afternoon at Detroit, 2-1. Billy Butler gave the Royals a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the first, but Miguel Cabrera drove in a run with a double of his own in the fourth. J.D. Martinez hit a tiebreaking homer in the fourth for the Tigers.

Danny Duffy (4-6) allowed two runs and three hits in seven innings. He walked one and struck out five. The home run he gave up was a good pitch, fastball in the mid-90’s down and in, but Martinez put a great swing on the ball and had just enough to hit it out to right field for the opposite field shot.

Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez went seven innings for the win as Detroit has won in his eighth straight start. The Royals leave Detroit up a half game and now will come home to face Seattle this weekend.
