A Troy man has been sentenced to two years’ probation for the oxycodone overdose death of his eight-month-old niece.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports 29-year-old David Brewer pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of endangering the welfare of a child. He must also undergo evaluation and possible treatment for substance abuse.
The girl died after Brewer and Heather M. Maune had been babysitting her overnight. Maune is scheduled for a trial next month. She is charged with second-degree involuntary manslaughter.
