Governor Nixon is letting the criminal code rewrite bill go into effect. But he has not signed it.     State law says bill go into effect without a signature if a governor does not veto them.

Nixon says he’s not signing the bill because of two flaws, one that he says weakens drunk driving laws and the other that he says weakens the law against buying large quantities of pseudoephedrine products for the making of methamphetamine.

Sponsors of the bill have a corrective bill ready for action today. Nixon says he’ll sign that one if they can get it to him.  The legislative session ends at 6 p.m. Friday
