Freshman IF/OF Kelli Schkade earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week helping Mizzou in a series sweeping, 7-6 win at No. 20 Auburn on Sunday.  Schkade hit a solo home run to left center field with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to put Mizzou up 7-5.

The home run added to her 6-for-16 (.375) week to help Mizzou record a perfect 5-0 record, which included two wins over Western Illinois (April 9) and the road sweep of Auburn (April 11-13). The midweek doubleheader vs. WIU included a superb performance by Schkade, as she went 3-for-4 at the plate with a single, double and triple in the 5-0 nightcap win. The outing was one of Mizzou’s latest individual efforts of three-plus hits in a game, with the squad’s season total currently at 21. The Tigers had 18 such performances in the entire 2013 season.

Mizzou is back in action in a midweek doubleheader at Iowa on Wednesday, April 16, with 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. start times. The Tigers return home for more SEC action with Ole Miss from Friday, April 18-Saturday April 19. Mizzou and the Rebels play a doubleheader on Friday (5 p.m./7 p.m.), before a 2 p.m. series finale on Saturday.
