State and national flags will be flying at half staff at state buildings in all Missouri counties tomorrow in honor of a former Rolla soldier killed in the Fort Hood shootings April 2.   

Army authorities say Sergeant Timothy Dixon was shot to death while trying to talk the gunman into stopping his killings.  Owens is one of three soldiers killed by the gunman, who then killed himself.  Sixteen soldiers were wounded. 

Owens attended high school in Rolla and joined the Army in 2004. .  He went through Advanced Infantry Training  at Fort Leonard Wood, served in Iraq in 2005 and was in Kuwait in 2010. He recently enlisted for another six years.

Visitation for Sgt. Owens at the First Baptist Church in Rolla will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow.  His funeral service willbe at 11 a.m. 

Owens and other victims of the shootings were memorialized earlier this week by President Obama during ceremonies at Fort Hood.
