More than two dozen students were injured when a Lewis County C-1 school bus rolled onto its top in an accident near LaGrange Tuesday afternoon. Three students sustained what the Highway Patrol terms “serious” injuries.

The Patrol said the bus’ driver overcorrected and the bus crossed the highway, overturned and came to rest on its top in a ditch.

Students with injuries were taken to hospitals in Quincy and Hannibal for treatment. The three seriously injured children were flown to the Quincy hospital by helicopter.

Among the injured children for whom the Patrol released ages, ages ranged between 6 and 12 years old.
