Republican efforts in the state Senate to cut taxes are in a state of disarray because of differences within the party, so much so that a tax-cut bill has been shelved for a third time in a week. Senator Will Kraus of Lee’s Summit has gotten nowhere with his tax cut proposal that he says the Governor would sign because fellow Republicans don’t believe he and Governor Nixon have worked out a deal.
His newest tack is to forget income tax cuts and to focus on reforming the tax credit system that costs the state tens of millions of dollars in tax income each year.
For Kirkwood Senator Eric Schmitt, that change is white flag of surrender.

Kraus, who has seen his tax cut bill shredded by skeptics who don’t think he has a deal with the governor now has seen his tax CREDIT cut bill attacked as giving up on the original idea of cutting income taxes. He’s put his bill on the shelf again, saying it still needs work.
