The St. Louis Blues increased their lead to five points over the Colorado Avalanche with a 2-1 win Saturday at Pepsi Center, in Denver, winning their third straight against the Avs.  The win was also Ryan Miller’s fourth since coming to the Blues. Miller is 4-0-0 since arriving in a trade from the Buffalo Sabres a week ago Friday. He has allowed one goal in each of the past two games.

The Blues took a 1-0 lead at 7:03 of the second period on a goal by David Backes, who has six goals and five assists in his past nine games against the Avalanche.

Patrik Berglund put the Blues up 2-0 3:53 into the third period after he spun around and shot the puck between Avalanche defenseman Nate Guenin’s legs past goalie Semyon Varlamov.  It was Berglund’s fourth goal in the past four games.
