The Saint Louis Billikens men’s basketball team can call itself a top 10 program. The Billikens are 10th in the AP and Coaches Poll after winning their 17th straight on Saturday. The last time SLU had a top ten program was Dec 1964. The late head coach Rick Majerus pegged it before his death saying back in March of 2012, quote “We’ll be a top 10 team in about three years.” Jim Crews took over the team following the death of Majerus and team has been rolling.
The Billikens are 23-2 overall and have won a school-record 17 games in a row. SLU is coming off a 64-62 victory against VCU last Saturday at a sold-out Chaifetz Arena. Saint Louis, which is 10-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, has a three-game lead in the conference standings.
SLU travels to Fairfax, Va., this Wednesday for a matchup against George Mason. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT), and the game will be televised on NBC Sports Network.
Saint Louis is back at Chaifetz Arena Saturday, Feb. 22, when it takes on George Washington in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
